M54: It was all totally worth it for the look on Mom’s face when she saw what I’d done. It’s an amazing feeling, really, knowing the difference we can make for others.

I wish I had that trait but alas I wallow in my messy office. Closest I get to that is I constantly have to straighten things hanging on walls. I do it at home, the office, the doctor’s office, whereever, and I secretly wish I could carry a little carpenters level with me.

Thing is, when your MIL has ppl over she will show them what you have done and brag about how wonderful you are.

Isn’t it interesting how our Lord allows us to bless others just by being the ppl He created us to be.

Lindsey–That’s one way to spend some vacation time. I like to organize too. Messy drives me crazy. The thing is Cara and I have different ideas of organized. I’ll spend hours putting something in ‘order’ and she’ll think it’s a hot mess because it’s not the order she thinks it should be in.

Ahhh me…but it does feel good to have things organized.

Amber: Way, way back in the day I worked in “maintainance and organization” at a doctor’s office and a few homes. Best. Job. Ever. I made 10-15 an hour, which meant that I only had to work three hours a day to make ends meet.

Of course, I was only seventeen. The ends didn’t have to stretch very far to meet. I’ve been thinking about hanging that shingle out again. I could work after the kids were asleep (if it were an office) or Saturday and Sunday mornings (if it were a home) and not have to leave the kids in daycare. That would be nice. If I have to put the kids in daycare, I can’t afford to work.

Anita: My husband often jokes “wherever would I be without you?” to which I reply, “dead under a pile of game manuals, probably.”

RWG: It’s very cathartic. My mother says, “tidy room, tidy mind.” Which I find to be true. I keep my thoughts in order better when surrounded by order. And have you seen the homes of serial killers in the movies? Always a dump.

Julie: You actually live within driving distance, don’t you? I charge $12 an hour.

Tidying up like that is great. I find cleaning and tidying very therapeutic and stress relieving. It’s simple and when it’s done it’s actually finished unlike other projects which can just drag on and on and take forever.

We’re kindred spirits! I courted my partner by organizing all the boxes of papers she’s collected over the years before we met. I sorted through the piles, organized them by year and then sealed them into dated packets using my Foodsaver vacuum sealer. How could she resist me after that?

Nothing like organizing for a little instant gratification, eh?
