Emphatic Stories (submissions welcome)

Humanity.  It comes in so many colors, shapes, sizes, ranges of masculine to feminine, religions…  There is such an infinite amount of variations that you will never find two people exactly alike.

And we need each other.

We need to hear each other.  We need to talk, and we need to listen.  A regular feature of this blog is the stories of people I’ve known through the years, their struggles and hopes, the ways in which knowing them has changed my life.  I wouldn’t accept homosexuality had I not had the honor of being there for the “coming out” of good people, I wouldn’t accept other religions had I not had so many positive experiences with people of other faiths.  I love to share my stories with the world.

Now I want to share your story, too.

Are you gay?  Muslim?  Black?  Brown?  Female?  Male?  Have you struggled with your faith, asked hard questions?  Has a bad experience with a Christian driven you away from the church?  I want my blog readers to hear your story.

email me at shush.lindsey(at)gmail(dot)com and I will post your story for the world to read, as an anonymous account of one more human being who needs to know that their story matters- that you matter.

Take care, world.

Once I tried to leave my heart felt comments about an alledged abortion poster and it didn’t get published.

My self esteem is in the tank. It’s been a very difficult week. ;)

You should really think about putting fliers up for your baked goods!

It didn’t get published because Akismet, the “spam catcher” thinks you’re spamming me!

    Ack!

    I reallowed it. :)

Now regarding your making some $$$. I think I have a solution. If there is a big day care or elementary school near by go and speak to the director or principle. Tell them you know that most parents have a lot on their plates these days and have very little time to do “extras” when they get home in the evening.

You understand that some children bring cup cakes to their class on their birthdays and others do not. Is there some way that they could help you communicate with these busy parents with regards to providing cup cakes for their child’s class on their birthdays?

Many, many, many years ago when our oldest daughter was in elementary school my wife brought cup cakes. It wasn’t long before she got orders… then for cakes… then for specialty cakes (Mickey Mouse, Batman, etc.). She did quite well.

    I hope that helps.

@Mssc54 A few friends of mine are helping me plan a little bakery complete with mail order service… it won’t be anything huge or fancy, but the holiday season is coming so I think I can swing it! Yay! You have some great ideas- I’ll incorporate them, as well.

    @SF: me too!

  6. mssc54 replied:

So how is the bakery going?

  7. Lindsey replied:

It’s going! I’ve already gotten a few orders, which is amazing since it’s not really “public” yet.

Word is the best form of advertising. You may think of some old ladies who may have specialty cake pans they want to get out of their cabinets. :)

    Lindsey,

As you know, MSSC54 loves to call me “College Lawyer Boy”.

If you need any quasi-legal advice with the business, feel free to shoot me an email. My specialty is Intellectual Property, but I’m pretty adept at other areas as well.

    Good luck!

@Lindsey – I have loads of emphatic stories. I’ll open the lid on my SoapBox and see what I have stashed. :-)

@politipornster – speaking of intellectual property….do you know anything about including lyrics of a song into a novel? How many words are you allowed to use without having to pay? I don’t know if I should delete all musical references or if I’m allowed any leeway.

  12. PolitiPornster replied:

@SteadyCat – Despite popular belief, there isn’t a magic number before you have to pay. Given that I don’t know that exact circumstances of your issue, but the best rule of thumb would be not to re-publish the lyrics in their entirety.

If you’d like to discuss this at greater length, please feel free to contact me at politiporn@yahoo.com

All you christians are idiots. You guys are the ones poisoning the world with your theological lunacy and delusion. Religion is the root of all evil and there is no denying it. Just like evolution is a scientific fact, religion is just a crutch for all the weakminded, indoctrinated morons to lean on.

I like your writing because you challenge stuffy people like me.

Also, I really enjoyed your comments on tattoos, especially the “word of wisdom” part. Personally, I can see God doing that. It’s well within my framework of how God acts and how He uses people to touch others in mind-blowing ways.

And…within your spiritual make-up is a powerful gift of working of miracles (1 cor. 12: 10) that is about to explode on the scene. This explosive gift will be used to convince thousands that our God is a NOW God, not a yesterday God.
